Reason is slower than Storm, but it's more powerful. It has a better relationship with the rest of the Propellerhead family, too. Reason feels less like a stand-alone program and more like an extension of its core software. This makes isn't as easy as Reason to use and, as its not quite as feature-rich as Reason, it's not worth the extra £50.
Reason has in a number of ways come a long way since this time last year. It hasn't entirely replaced Reason's sibling, Record!, though, and if you're a real pro, you'll want to keep your real studio life separate.
All of this is built upon a solid sound engine that's certainly more comprehensive than anything Reason has to offer. Storm is capable of handling everything from low-level keyboard macros to in-depth sampling and modulation of any MIDI- or audio-based midi instrument. Though, the engine is far from perfect as it currently stands.
There are a number of problems with Storm, most of which future versions may resolve, but at the moment it can be a little frustrating at times. For instance: you can't have multiple effects cascaded, nor can you apply more than one effect to a single channel. There's also no way of automatically adding effects, or loops, between two different Nested Modules. It can be easier to simply use other Reason-based software rather than play around with the settings of a virtual audio rack. The track page in Storm is a little uninspiring, too. Just some basic information and a list of tracks. 7211a4ac4a
